The Camp Lightbulb Bubble
“You deserve a welcoming, loving world,” reads the topline of text on the Trevor Project website.
At Camp Lightbulb, we believe this too. We dare to ask for a world that considers us. There are lots of ways to do this daring. GLSEN promotes this by supporting GSAs in schools. That's a safe space for youth to go to in their own communities.
Many local organizations also endeavor to do this work. Finding them is as easy as googling “LGBTQ youth organization” with your location. If you do this in Los Angeles, The Center pops up. If you do this in New York you may find gaycenter.org.
Bubbles create for others, what many already have by default. THAT seems fair to us.
We hope the Camp Lightbulb Bubble can be YOUR comfort zone where:
You can un-mask
Your feelings matter
Your peers remind you of yourself
Your role models have lived a life like yours
Your differences are celebrated
AND
You do not have to educate to communicate
We strive to create a world where all LGBTQ+ youth feel welcomed, loved, supported, and inspired by the road ahead. The Camp Lightbulb Bubble is filled with role models who have lived through similar challenges and can provide guidance and support. It's a space where differences are not only accepted but celebrated. It's a reminder that authenticity and kindness can be sources of strength, and that everyone deserves access to the same opportunities and support, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
You DO deserve the world.
