Pay What You Can

Times have been tough for many families, including the wider Camp Lightbulb family of campers and parents. As a non-profit, we are happy to do what we can to make camp available to as many campers as possible.

Roughly 30% to 40% of our campers receive financial assistance.

Previously, these ‘camperships’ were provided based on the parent's previous year's income. But a lot can change in one year, and the pandemic has put a big strain on all of us.

Since starting Clubhouse, a virtual camp experience, we have offered registration on a Pay What You Can basis. This approach allows campers to join us every Saturday regardless of their financial circumstances.

This year we decided to take that same approach with our in-person camps, so we now offer financial assistance based on the amount that families tell us they can afford. This approach gives family agency over what they can contribute and we also customize payment plans for each family.

Pay What You Can is a game-changer and it brings us great joy to offer financial support in this way. As one parent said:

"THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! We are beyond happy!"

And another added:

"Thank you, Puck and Team! So glad it is happening!" - Parent

We in turn are hugely gratefulforo the ongoing support from our donors, sponsor,s and grantmakers that allow us to do this.
